I try to find the joy in life. It’s not always easy, but there are some things that are guaranteed to make me happy on a day to day basis. Sometimes I know I just need a little pick me up to be back to my usual happy self 🙂
My favorite tea in one of my favorite mugs always makes me happy. My mom always drank tea. It was her beverage of choice and I resisted it for a long time. Then I started trying different types of tea and I’m hooked! I’m a huge fan of Earl Grey tea, but I like a lot of different herbal teas and will pretty much drink anything. Unlike most people I know, I drink all my tea black and savor the flavors. I have several different mugs that I rotate around. I am drawn to mugs that speak to me as a person and make me smile.
My Rose Bush
My father gave me a rose bush the first Mother’s Day without my mom. It was also the first year in our home and therefore it was the first plant that we actually planted ourselves. I planted it and left it alone. I have a black thumb. It’s notorious in our family. Don’t ever ask me to come by and water your plants! The rose bush limped along until this year. Then the Gypsy Moths struck. I thought the rose bush was gone! But I decided I would try to save it. I trimmed back all the dead stuff and read up on how to take care of it. My rose bush is now blooming and I feel a sense of accomplishment that “I did that”. I’m taking it slowly, but I’ve now added a second plant to my routine and hopefully, I can keep them both alive this year.
My friends and family
I’m so blessed to have an amazing family and a great group of friends. I have mom friends who keep me sane, high school friends who have known me forever, and college friends that remind me of the journey. I come from a large family and I love having a big supportive group! Some days I just need to be around my people to remind me of how lucky I am.
We are lucky enough to have an amazing Golden Retriever. She’s the happiest dog I know and she keeps us smiling. I love the way she greets us at the door with a wagging tail and a smile on her face. She loves to cuddle or play, and she’s amazing with my daughter. It’s so cute to see them interacting now and playing together.
Whenever I need a pick me up, my daughter comes through. I’m biased but I think she’s the best. Her belly laugh can turn any day around and her antics keep me on my toes in a good way. We have our challenges for sure (the toddler phase is tough!) but we still have fun and any day that we have fun is a win for me!
Pin for later!
